NCAA Tournament Picks

Over the last couple days we shared our bracket reactions (Monday) and region breakdowns (Andrew on Tuesday).

Today, it is time for us to reveal our official bracket picks. Not only do we hope these can help you with your bracket, but these picks will be for all the Sports Guys marbles. March Madness is near and dear to our hearts so winning this bracket competition is something we both covet. Each round will be worth more and more. So the “Round of 64” games will be worth 1 point, then 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 for the Championship Game.

Greg and I have agonized over the bracket, but we have never really discussed specifics on how we were selecting. So note that these decisions were made separately without discussion. So without further ado, let’s go through our picks.

South

Round of 64…

Andrew: Florida, Colorado, SF Austin, UCLA, Ohio St., Syracuse, New Mexico, Kansas

Greg: Florida, Pittsburgh, SF Austin, UCLA, Ohio St., Syracuse, New Mexico, Kansas

Round of 32…

Andrew: Florida, SF Austin, Syracuse, New Mexico

Greg: Florida, UCLA, Syracuse, Kansas

Sweet 16…

Andrew: Florida, Syracuse

Greg: Florida, Kansas

Elite 8…

Andrew: Florida

Greg: Florida

We both like the #1 overall seed to advance, despite playing different teams at each step along the way. We both also like SF Austin to make some noise. Andrew went a step further and also picked New Mexico to make a big upset over Kansas.

East

Round of 64…

Andrew: Virginia, Memphis, Harvard, Michigan St., North Carolina, Iowa St., Connecticut, Villanova

Greg: Virginia, Memphis, Harvard, Michigan St., North Carolina, Iowa St., St. Joe’s, Villanova

Round of 32…

Andrew: Virginia, Michigan St., North Carolina, Villanova

Greg: Virginia, Michigan St., North Carolina, Villanova

Sweet 16…

Andrew: Michigan St., North Carolina

Greg: Michigan St., North Carolina

Elite 8…

Andrew: Michigan St.

Greg: Michigan St.

Unbelievably similar in this bracket. In fact, the only difference was the UCONN vs. St. Joe’s game. That means we’ll be dead wrong on the rest.

West

Round of 64…

Andrew: Arizona, Ok. St., No. Dakota St., San Diego St., Baylor, Creighton, Oregon, Wisconsin

Greg: Arizona, Ok. St., No. Dakota St., San Diego St., Nebraska, Creighton, Oregon, Wisconsin

Round of 32…

Andrew: Arizona, San Diego St., Creighton, Wisconsin

Greg: Arizona, San Diego St., Nebraska, Wisconsin

Sweet 16…

Andrew: Arizona, Wisconsin

Greg: Arizona, Wisconsin

Elite 8…

Andrew: Arizona

Greg: Wisconsin

Finally we have a different Final Four team. Andrew likes the 1-seed, but Greg went with the 2-seed in this region. Both like North Dakota State to pull off an upset, but Greg also has Nebraska making a run.

Midwest

Round of 64…

Andrew: Wichita St., Kentucky, NC State, Louisville, Tennessee, Duke, Arizona St., Michigan

Greg: Wichita St., Kentucky, St. Louis, Louisville, Tennessee, Duke, Arizona St., Michigan

Round of 32…

Andrew: Wichita St., Louisville, Duke, Michigan

Greg: Wichita St., Louisville, Duke, Arizona St.

Sweet 16…

Andrew: Louisville, Duke

Greg: Wichita St., Duke

Elite 8…

Andrew: Louisville

Greg: Wichita State

Another different region here as Andrew went with Louisville (the hot pick) and Greg picked Wichita State (the 1-seed). We like play-in teams, and Greg also likes ASU over Michigan.

Final Four

Andrew: Michigan St. over Florida, Arizona over Louisville

Greg: Michigan St. over Florida, Wichita St. over Wisconsin

We both like the Spartans to topple the #1 team in the country here. The difference is the other finalist. Will it be Arizona or WSU?

Championship Game

Andrew: Michigan St. over Arizona

Greg: Michigan St. over Wichita St.

Both like Michigan State to prevail this year now that they are healthy. Greg has Wichita State losing its only game of the season in the Championship Game. That would be brutal for them.

So that’s how we view things. Let us know which picks you love, and which picks you hate. In fact, if you want to post your picks in the comment section, feel free to play along. We’d welcome the competition. Enjoy the tournament!

  1. Through first two rounds:

    Andrew - 41 Points
    Greg - 41 Points

  2. Greg - 61 Points
    Andrew - 57 Points

Neither can score so Greg wins! The difference really came down to Arizona vs. Wisconsin. Since the Badgers won, Greg won. Had it gone the other way, Andrew would have prevailed!
