NFL Power Rankings

After a lot of hype heading into the weekend, there were some great games, but also some disappointments. We also saw some true colors of certain squads like Atlanta, San Francisco, and Houston in good ways... Chicago, Giants, and the Jets in bad ways. Here are our rankings:

NFL Power Rankings
Through Week 15

Andrew – 1243 Points (144-79-1)
Greg – 1191 Points (136-87-1) – Winner of Week 15

NOTE: Last week’s rank is noted in the first parenthesis. Current team record noted in the second parenthesis.

1. (2) Denver Broncos (11-3) – No team in the league is playing better than the Broncos right now. It’s true they started the season rough, but Manning and the defense have steadily improved, and they have now won nine straight. – Andrew

2. (6) Atlanta Falcons (12-2) – As easy as it was for us to get down on them after a bad loss to Carolina, it is just as easy for us to jump on board after they smashed the Giants. All of a sudden, they seem to be the NFC favorites again. – Andrew

3. (5) Houston Texans (12-2) – Similar to Atlanta, they delivered a bounce back performance that was needed after a loss to the Patriots. With the division now in hand, Houston is eyeing home field throughout. – Andrew

4. (7) San Francisco 49ers (10-3-1) – QB Colin is starting to grow on me. There are still some kinks to work out, but maybe Harbaugh knew what he was doing all along. – Andrew

5. (3) Green Bay Packers (10-4) – Didn’t move the Packers down the rankings on purpose, but it happened because other teams were more impressive and honestly have been all season. – Andrew

6. (1) New England Patriots (10-4) – Loss to the 49ers exposed the Patriots defense and their toughness problem. The one seed is all but gone, and now they are looking at a likely three seed…ouch. – Andrew

7. (9) Seattle Seahawks (9-5) – If there is one team in the NFL that I would fear the most, it’s this one. The offense is clicking and the defense has been all year. – Andrew

8. (4) Indianapolis Colts (9-5) – So there hopes at winning the AFC South were dashed, but not all is lost. One more win secures a playoff spot. – Andrew

9. (10) Washington Redskins (8-6) – No RG3, no problem! Cousins played great filling in, but in order to win out and have a chance in the playoffs, the real starting rookie needs to return.

10. (12) Dallas Cowboys (8-6) – For all the negative talk through the years about Tony Romo choking and no being clutch, he is surely performing well in the clutch this season. They won yet again and again in OT. – Andrew

11. (8) New York Giants (8-6) – Last week I anointed them possible favorites in the NFC, and then they went out and played like crap. It’s true that they have a high ceiling, but of all the contenders they also played the most inconsistently. – Andrew

12. (13) Cincinnati Bengals (8-6) – The Bengals took care of business early in the week, but now have huge divisional matchups looming. – Andrew

13. (14) Minnesota Vikings (8-6) – AD is still on pace to break the all-time season rushing record. That’s after his injury last year and slow start this year. Not only is it incredible, it is literally unbelievable. – Andrew

14. (11) Baltimore Ravens (9-5) – The Ravens have massive issues with their offense right now and it is all due to the uneasiness surrounding the coordinator situation. They have the personnel so use it! – Andrew

15. (15) Chicago Bears (8-6) – We all expected them to lose based on recent play and they did. But can they regroup and finish strong with two road, yet winnable games? - Andrew

16. (16) Pittsburgh Steelers (7-7) – Who would have thought that they wouldn’t make the playoffs this year? Oh yeah, I did, and that’s what it’s looking like! – Andrew

17. (17) St. Louis (6-7-1) – All they had to do was stop one man: Peterson! They couldn’t do it and there season is now all but over. They shouldn’t feel bad though because no team has been able to stop him. – Andrew

18. (22) New Orleans Saints (6-8) – The Saints play spoiler pretty well and they have another chance to do it this weekend against the Cowboys! – Andrew

19. (26) Miami Dolphins (6-8) – Tannehill had a very solid outing on Sunday. Reggie Bush did too. And the defense played well. That’s their foundation. – Andrew

20. (18) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-8) – Josh Freeman has been all over the map this season. Consistency please! – Andrew

21. (27) Carolina Panthers (5-9) – The Panthers are finally finding some things that work. Great building points for next year. – Andrew

22. (20) New York Jets (6-8) – I am very interested as to who is starting at QB next week… and next year. – Andrew

23. (19) San Diego Chargers (5-9) – I started Rivers, Alexander, and Gates between my 3 fantasy teams… MISTAKE! – Andrew

24. (21) Cleveland Browns (5-9) –Play calling issues are abundant in Cleveland now as they left Richardson out of the offense in the second half. – Andrew

25. (23) Buffalo Bills (5-9) – The good news for them is that this poor finish has given them a better draft choice. – Andrew

26. (28) Tennessee Titans (5-9) – CJ2K apparently still has life in him. But Usain Bolt could have scored faster. – Andrew

27. (32) Arizona Cardinals (5-9) – Just as I dropped them real low, they win. Go figure! – Andrew

28. (24) Detroit Lions (4-10) – Most thought this was a playoff team. Now they are likely a top five picking team in the draft again. – Andrew

29. (29) Oakland Raiders (4-10) – Great job. You beat the Kansas City High School Team. – Andrew

30. (25) Philadelphia Eagles (4-10) – Biggest disappointment this week was Bryce Brown to my fantasy playoffs team. – Andrew

31. (30) Jacksonville Jaguars (2-12) – Will be interested to see what area of need they address most in the offseason. – Andrew

32. (31) Kansas City Chiefs (2-12) – Back where they belong… last in power rankings! – Andrew
