College Football Saturday 4

College Football Saturday

So Alabama got revenge on Manziel from last year by defeating them this past Saturday. It was an epic game, but turnovers cost Texas A&M the game. We also saw the Pac-12 take it to the Big Ten. Greg dominated picking while Andrew struggled. Greg takes the lead!

Picks Standings

Greg:               9 – 6
Andrew:         7 – 8

Let’s see what we think about these games:

23 Arizona State at 5 Stanford

Andrew: Stanford – Arizona State should have lost last week, if not for the Wisconsin end of the game blunder. Stanford however, has been one of the best teams in the country. I think this one is an easy win.

Greg: I’m with Andrew on this one. Stanford should roll to an easy win at home. The Sun Devils clearly benefitted from an official’s mistake at the end of the game in an emotional win. Stanford won a game on the east coast and should be rested now that they are playing in their own time zone.

Andrew:         Stanford 35, Arizona State 20
Greg:               Stanford 42, Arizona State 17

Auburn at 6 LSU

Andrew: LSU – Auburn is relevant again for the first time since Cam Newton. So should Les Miles and LSU be threatened? Nah. LSU is for real this year.

Greg:  Auburn has won a few games, but they won’t really be relevant again until they compete for an SEC title. They will not do that this year and they certainly won’t start it off against LSU in Baton Rouge. LSU wins.

Andrew:         LSU 30, Auburn 17
Greg:               LSU 35, Auburn 23

Tennessee at 19 Florida

Andrew: Florida – This week is filled with decent but not great matchups. Once again, Tennessee is good but not good enough to hang with Florida on the road.

Greg: As much as I really don’t want to pick Tennessee, I have to. I do not trust Florida, even at home. Tennessee went on the road last week and played the 2nd best team in the country very well for the first half. The Gators will not seem nearly as good after playing them, and I have to believe that Tennessee took some confidence from the game against Oregon.

Andrew:         Florida 31, Tennessee 20
Greg:               Tennessee 20, Florida 17

Michigan State at 22 Notre Dame

Andrew: Notre Dame – You never know what will happen with Notre Dame. I mean, they nearly lost to Purdue last week and MSU is a much better team (currently 3-0). But I say they pull out another tough win right at the end.

Greg: This depends on what Notre Dame team shows up and when they show up. If the focused, good Notre Dame team shows up on time for this game they should win. If they don’t, Michigan State is good enough to win in South Bend. I really want to pick against the Irish, but I’m not going to.

Andrew:         Notre Dame 24, Michigan State 21
Greg:               Notre Dame 33, Michigan State 30

Wildcard: Pick an Upset

Andrew: UCONN over Michigan – Michigan is 3-0, Connecticut is 0-2. But, Michigan barely escaped last week over Akron at home so they are vulnerable. I say UCONN pulls it off at home.

Greg: San Jose State over Minnesota, at Minnesota. Minny is 3-0, 2-0 at home and favored by 3.5 points here. I expect San Jose State to come across the country and beat this Big Ten team on the road.

Andrew:         Connecticut 27, Michigan 24
Greg:   San Jose State 30, Minnesota 27

Enjoy week 4!

  1. Well, Andrew nearly had a great week, but overall it was a fairly lackluster weekend of college football.

    Picks this week:

    Andrew:4-1
    Greg:3-2

Neither of us predicted the upset correctly, but Andrew was very close to doing so.
