College Football Saturday 6

Little late on the post this week, let’s get to the action!

Picks Standings

Greg:               16 – 9
Andrew:         15 – 10

Let’s see what we think about these games, which are bound to be better:

4 Ohio State at 16 Northwestern

Andrew: Ohio State – Probably the biggest home game in Northwestern history, and I don’t think they’ll be happy afterwards. Remember, OSU hasn’t lost in about 2 years, and that won’t start today.

Greg: Northwestern - I hate doing this to myself, and really hate picking against Urban Meyer, but I'm going with Northwestern in this game. I think the combination of Gameday being in Evanston, it being a home game, the fact that Ohio State played an emotional game last week, and that Northwestern is a much improved team will all factor into a high scoring, Northwestern win.

Andrew:         Ohio State 34, Northwestern 30
Greg:               Northwestern 52, Ohio State 49

15 Washington at 5 Stanford

Andrew: Stanford - It’s setting up for an Oregon/Stanford battle in the Pac-12, and Washington won’t get in the way. Washington has been a great story this year, but winning on the road is tough to overcome here.

Greg: Stanford - If this game were in Washington I might feel differently, but the Cardinal will just be too much for the Huskies to handle in this game. Kevin Hogan has stepped up his play and the Cardinal defense should slow down the Husky offense enough to keep them at the top of the Pac-12 with Oregon.

Andrew:         Stanford 24, Washington 17
Greg:               Stanford 30, Washington 20

25 Maryland at 8 Florida State

Andrew: Florida State – I feel similar about this game as I do about the Pac-12 matchup above. Clemson and Florida State seem to be on a collision course and Maryland won’t slow this team down on the road.

Greg: Florida State - Jameis Winston is arguably the most exciting player in college football. If the Seminoles go undefeated, we will have a second Freshman QB win the Heisman. He's that good, and that dynamic. He will probably even have a better career than Manziel because he has a better arm, better physique, and is physically a bit tougher. I like FSU in this game.

Andrew:         Florida State 40, Maryland 20
Greg:               Florida State 40, Maryland 25

22 Arizona State at Notre Dame

Andrew: Arizona State – As we saw last week, Arizona State has a lot of offense. They blasted USC, which led to Kiffin being fired. I think they take out Notre Dame killing the spirit of this Irish squad.

Greg: Notre Dame - This isn't truly a home game for Notre Dame, and its actually closer to Sun Devil stadium than Notre Dame stadium. In the end, it won't matter though. Notre Dame will not lose back to back games and beat Arizona State.

Andrew:         Arizona State 40, Notre Dame 24
Greg:               Notre Dame 28, Arizona State 24

Wildcard: Pick an Upset

Andrew: Auburn over Ole Miss – Ole Miss is coming off a tough loss to Alabama, now they head into Auburn, which is normally a tough place to play. I visited Auburn a couple weeks ago and they have a lot of pride there. Auburn 28, Ole Miss 24

Greg: Arkansas over Florida - Since I already picked an upset over a top 5 team in the Big Ten, how about another over a top 20 team from the SEC. I'm going with Arkansas over Florida. This is mainly because Arkansas gave Texas A&M a heck of a game last week, and should be firing on all cylinders offensively. I'm not sure Florida can keep up. Arkansas 43, Florida 37

Enjoy week 6!

  1. Andrew went 4-1 due to his upset pick, Greg 3-2. Both are now 19-11 on the year. It's tied up again!
