Power Rankings 7

NFL Power Rankings
After Week 7

NOTE: Previous ranking is noted in the first parenthesis. Current team record noted in the second parenthesis.

1. (1) Denver Broncos (6-1) – So they lost by six points at Indianapolis… So what? They played an uncharacteristic sloppy game most likely due to the emotional circumstances surrounding the event (Manning returns to Indy). Indy also played better than they really are, and I still think Denver is better than KC.

2. (2) Kansas City Chiefs (7-0) – The Chiefs are now the only unbeaten team left in football. Their defense carried them again and Jamaal Charles added to his POY case.

3. (3) Seattle Seahawks (6-1) – Seems like a while ago but they easily handled the Cardinals on Thursday night. Russell Wilson seems to be easing his way back into things and Percy Harvin’s return is just around the corner.

4. (4) San Francisco 49ers (5-2) – Kaepernick finally played like, well, himself. Loved to see his 20-yard TD run to start the game Sunday. Gore and the defense took it from there. Too bad Crabtree is still a month or so away.

5. (6) New Orleans Saints (5-1) – The biggest question for them during the bye week was if Jimmy Graham was able to get healthy. We’ll find out soon enough.

6. (7) Green Bay Packers (4-2) – Back in their rightful spot atop the NFC North after they dismantled the Browns. Injury trouble didn’t seem to bother them, and Aaron Rodgers is starting to put up bigger and bigger numbers.

7. (8) Cincinnati Bengals (5-2) – Two games up in the division now and I’m impressed with their road win at Detroit. Detroit made some miracle plays in that game and Cincy still was able to pull it out. I’d like to see more of Gio though.

8. (10) Indianapolis Colts (5-2) – Bet that felt good! Luck outdueled Manning and handed Denver their first loss. Of course, I still can’t understand how that was the same team that did nothing against San Diego the week prior. There is bad news however: Reggie Wayne has a torn ACL and is done for the year. Ouch!

9. (5) New England Patriots (5-2) – Tom Brady got his favorite toy back in Gronkowski, but that didn’t equal a win. His pick-6 changed the game and the defense couldn’t contain Geno Smith. Weird huh?

10. (12) Dallas Cowboys (4-3) – Apparently the Dallas defense has grown up since they were torched by Denver. They only gave up 16 points to RG3 last week and only 3 points to the offensive juggernaut that is Philadelphia. Terrance Williams is stepping it up on offense too.

11. (13) San Diego Chargers (4-3) – I felt like Sunday could have been a trap game after their win over Indy, but they rolled once again. Things seem to be clicking in all phases right now.

12. (9) Detroit Lions (4-3) – Stafford continued his solid season but it still didn’t equal a win on Sunday. They couldn’t make the plays when they needed too and the slow start was too much to overcome I guess in the end.

13. (11) Chicago Bears (4-3) – Where has the Bears defense gone? Only the Giants and Jaguars have given up more points thus far. They have a bye this week to get things figured out and to get Jay Cutler healthy (hopefully).

14. (17) Carolina Panthers (3-3) – Carolina’s defense has been terrific and Cam Newton continues to do just enough. They lack playmakers around him though, so their upside is limited.

15. (20) New York Jets (4-3) – Who would have thought they’d only be one game out of first place in the division at this point in the season? Geno Smith is inconsistent but overall has been solid. They’ve gotten great RB production this year too.

16. (14) Baltimore Ravens (3-4) – Loss to their archrival by a FG must hurt (seems to happen that way a lot). They must figure out how to achieve more consistency on offense.

17. (15) Miami Dolphins (3-3) – Officially in freefall now after dropping a home game to the Bills. It was fun while it lasted…

18. (16) Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) – We expected them to struggle with injuries to their QB this year, but now it’s Vick AND Foles. Who can get healthy first? Better hurry cause Barkley just threw another interception (3 Sunday in limited time)!

19. (23) Atlanta Falcons (2-4) – Matt Ryan made the most out of the guys around him (Harry Douglas and Jaquizz Rodgers were great). Still would love to get White and Jackson back at the least.

20. (24) Pittsburgh Steelers (2-4) – Two in a row including a great win over Baltimore. The returns of Heath Miller and Le’Veon Bell have been huge gains to the offense. How far can they ride this streak?

21. (28) Buffalo Bills (3-4) – I have no clue why CJ Spiller isn’t being used more, but the team picked up another quality win Sunday. Told you Thad Lewis is adequate.

22. (29) Washington Redskins (2-4) – RG3 continues to look better and better. In fact, the offense as a whole was impressive this week. Despite the win, I have huge reservations about their defense though, giving up 41 points to a team playing their backup QB for much of the game.

23. (18) St. Louis Rams (3-4) – They aren’t playing good football and things just got worse… Sam Bradford is done for the year. Oh boy…

24. (19) Arizona Cardinals (3-4) – The Cardinals just are atrocious on offense, so I guess the Carson Palmer signing didn’t do much at all.

25. (21) Tennessee Titans (3-4) – Jake Locker’s surprise return at least gives Tennessee hope, particularly in a division with the struggling Texans and the lowly Jaguars.

26. (22) Cleveland Browns (3-4) – The Packers were simply too much for the Browns, who seem to be sorely missing Brian Hoyer (never guessed I’d say that this season).

27. (27) Oakland Raiders (2-4) – What can the bye do for them? I guess it kept them from losing this week.

28. (31) New York Giants (1-6) – Finally woke up a little and got a win. Pretty bad it took that long but maybe they can get on a roll. At least help out fantasy teams…

29. (25) Houston Texans (2-5) – They made it a game against KC, but it’s time to throw in the towel on the Texans after their latest injuries (Foster and Cushing).

30. (26) Minnesota Vikings (1-5) – Josh Freeman was terrible, the offensive line is terrible, and the defense isn’t much better. How was this a playoff team last year? Also, why wouldn’t they give Tebow a shot?

31. (30) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-6) – (Same thing as last week) Vincent Jackson was great in the loss, but that only helps in fantasy. (New) Doug Martin was lost for the year, but they weren’t using him effectively anyways.

32. (32) Jacksonville Jaguars (0-7) – At least they showed toughness?...
