NFL Power Rankings 9

NFL Power Rankings
After Week 9

NOTE: Previous ranking is noted in the first parenthesis, record in second parenthesis.

1. (2) New England Patriots (7-2) – Nobody in the NFL is playing as well as the Pats. Tom Brady is the MVP so far this season (in my opinion), and he once again best Manning. Their defense was equally as impressive though in that game.

2. (3) Arizona Cardinals (7-1) – Best record in the NFL and actually unbeaten with Carson Palmer. I like their defense and I like their weapons on offense.

3. (1) Denver Broncos (6-2) – The defense struggled slowing down Tom Brady and the passing attack, and they couldn’t get off the field on 3rd/4th downs. Manning though was disappointing; despite the fact one INT wasn’t his fault.

4. (6) Philadelphia Eagles (6-2) – This is where they are now, but they likely will drop. Winning at Houston was big, but losing Foles for 4-8 weeks is bigger. I don’t trust Sanchez as a long-term solution.

5. (5) Detroit Lions (6-2) – If Calvin Johnson is healthy again coming out of their bye, the second half could be better than the first.

6. (7) Indianapolis Colts (6-3) – Luck continued his tremendous season by tossing 4 TD’s to 0 INT’s. They still can’t run the ball though…

7. (8) Green Bay Packers (5-3) – We’ll see how Rodgers and company respond out of their bye week after getting blitzed by New Orleans.

8. (9) Kansas City Chiefs (5-3) – Another dominating win on Sunday, although it was only against the Jets. Alex Smith is criminally underrated, as he continues to pile up wins in his career.

9. (11) Cincinnati Bengals (5-2-1) – AJ Green returned which allowed Cincy to open things up. Jeremy Hill was terrific in this game as well.

10. (4) Dallas Cowboys (6-3) – Without Romo, the Cowboys are looking ordinary. They need him back quickly!

11. (12) Seattle Seahawks (5-3) – Lynch finally got it going with two TD’s but I still was looking for more than a 6 point win at home against the worst team in the league.

12. (13) Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3) – Anyone else want to see the Steelers play the Pats right now? Big Ben threw for another 6 TD’s and is right behind Brady for MVP (along with Rodgers).

13. (16) Miami Dolphins (5-3) – Tannehill played amazing and the defense was best I’ve seen this season as they blanked the Chargers. I’m predicting now that they nab a wildcard spot this season.

14. (15) Buffalo Bills (5-3) – We’ll see if the Bills can continue their hot streak out of the bye. Sammy Watkins should at least…

15. (18) New Orleans Saints (4-4) – Seems like New Orleans is just settling in to the season and will take off in the second half. Brees and the offense are getting better and better.

16. (10) San Francisco 49ers (4-4) – What a flat performance by Kaep and the offense... They got manhandled at the line of scrimmage and turned it over at the end in a costly manner.

17. (14) Baltimore Ravens (5-4) – Two weeks ago I thought this team would cruise to the division title. Now they are in last place… Crazy tough in the AFC North.

18. (20) Cleveland Browns (5-3) – Hoyer threw for 300 yards and the Browns did just enough to win once again. 3 of their next 4 games are on the road though, so we’ll see how legit they really are.

19. (17) San Diego Chargers (5-4) – Another loss, and this one comes in an embarrassing fashion. They have a bye week ahead and it is much needed.

20. (25) Minnesota Vikings (4-5) – Really have a decent record with Teddy at QB. Helps that they are still running the ball effectively without AD. Defense though is the real MVP of the squad.

21. (19) Carolina Panthers (3-5-1) – Loss to NO cripples their chances at the division title, as this was at home. Doubt they catch them now.

22. (22) Houston Texans (4-5) – Still excited to see the defensive line play when Clowney returns. Also hear they are considering a QB change, so that could be fun!

23. (26) St. Louis Rams (3-5) – Defeating the 49ers was a great effort, but that may hurt them long term, as more losses equals a better chance at landing Mariotta or Winston.

24. (24) Chicago Bears (3-5) – This team entered the bye week in a bad place mentally, physically, and emotionally. Did they recover?

25. (21) New York Giants (3-5) – Beckham was a beast on MNF, but the rest of the team, particularly the defense, wasn’t.

26. (23) Washington Redskins (3-6) – RG3 returned and the team still lost. This is not what Gruden envisioned.

27. (27) Atlanta Falcons (2-6) – See Bears at #24…

28. (28) Tennessee Titans (2-6) – Will Mettenberger be out there again this week? Or will they turn to somebody else for the loss?

29. (29) New York Jets (1-8) – Vick got Harvin and Decker stats, but the team still wasn’t close to winning. They are in a great spot to land a top QB in the draft.

30. (30) Jacksonville Jaguars (1-8) – Jacksonville played a tough team close and Denard continues to look the part as a great RB.

31. (31) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-7) – Tampa Bay didn’t unload at the trade deadline like I expected. Don’t know if that’s a good thing or bad thing.

32. (32) Oakland Raiders (0-8) – Showed some spirit and grit in their loss at Seattle. But as expected, they are still winless at the halfway point.
