Week 7 was a great week for me (Andrew). My picks and points were dominating (won by 11), my favorite teams both won (Bears and Colts), and for the first time in three weeks I watched a good amount of football on Sunday.
The big movers up the board this week were the Colts and Saints who each moved up six spots after nice wins. The biggest losers were the Ravens (8 spots) and Bills (7 spots). The Ravens though fell from elite in our eyes to extremely average. Below are the rankings through week 7:
NFL Power Rankings
Week 7
Andrew – 526 Points
(61-43) – Winner of Week 7
Greg – 516 Points (60-44)
NOTE: Last week’s rank is noted in the first parenthesis.
Current team record noted in the second parenthesis.
1. (1) Atlanta Falcons (6-0) – Nothing happened this week, in my opinion to knock
them from the top spot. They are still the only undefeated team in football. –
Greg
2. (5) Houston Texans (6-1) – Houston looked on Sunday like
they have for most of the season: dominant! They made a good, but beat up,
Ravens team look like they were still in high school. – Andrew
3. (2) Chicago Bears (5-1) – Offense didn’t do much outside of an early TD. But with
the defense doing their thing again, it didn’t matter. They have forced 21
turnovers so far this season, which is the most in the NFL. – Andrew
4.
(3) New York Giants (5-2) – Won a tough game against the 'Skins this week, and Rodney
Harrison proclaimed Eli Manning the "best QB in the NFL right now".
Hard to argue with him at this point. – Greg
5. (6) Green Bay Packers (4-3) – You know who they are reminding me of right now? The
Packers from last year! That’s a bad sign for the rest of the league. – Andrew
6. (7) San Francisco 49ers (5-2) – Ran the ball extremely well against the Seahawks,
and were dominant on defense. Should be a very interesting NFC playoff
race with the Falcons, Bears, Giants, 49ers, and Packers solidly ahead of the
pack right now. – Greg
7. (10) New England Patriots (4-3) – The 2012 offense has
been all about running. But vs. the Jets it was a flashback to 2011 where Gronk
was getting the Td’s! – Andrew
8.
(9) Denver Broncos (3-3) – If they played a full game against anyone, they might be 6-0.
They seem to only play 2 quarters, and that has to change. – Greg
9. (13) Minnesota Vikings (5-2) – Christian Ponder played a historically bad game on
Sunday, and they still came away with the win. Percy Harvin and Adrian Peterson
could be garnering some MVP votes early in the season. – Greg
10. (12) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-3) – Win a game on the road-Check. Play defense that
resembles the Pittsburgh Steelers-Check. Run the ball effectively-Check. – Greg
11.
(8) Seattle Seahawks (4-3) – Seattle does a couple of things well.
First, they run it effectively. Second, they play tough defense. This week the
49ers just did those things better, but they are right there in the wildcard
race. – Andrew
12. (4) Baltimore Ravens (5-2) – The wheels are coming off and their play is
spiraling downhill fast. On Sunday, the defense looked like it was missing
pieces (they are), and the offense looked out of whack (cause it is). – Andrew
13.
(14) Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) – Andy Reid's teams are undefeated following the bye week, so
expect a win this week. – Greg
14.
(11) Washington Redskins (3-4) – RGIII made all the clutch plays on Sunday. But the defense
couldn’t hold Eli from scoring. – Andrew
15.
(15) Miami Dolphins (3-3) – The week off should have given them a chance to get a little bit
healthy. – Greg
16. (19) Dallas Cowboys (3-3) – The offense moved the ball decent enough, but they
didn’t put it in the endzone. That will need to change going forward to
continue winning. – Andrew
17.
(16) Arizona Cardinals (4-3) – Losers of three straight games and in bad need of some offensive
consistency. – Greg
18.
(20) San Diego Chargers (3-3) – Still can’t get a feel for this team. Will they establish an
identity after their bye? – Andrew
19. (25) Indianapolis Colts (3-3) – The
Colts continue to win at home. They need to put their show on the road though.
You can tell that Andrew Luck will be special. – Andrew
20. (26) New Orleans Saints (2-4) – Drew Brees has to be
spectacular for them to win. They do get Joe Vitt back this week, which could
make a difference. – Greg
21. (21) New York Jets (3-4) – Played a good game against the Patriots, and the
idea of Tim Tebow at RB is not that crazy. He could be very successful there. –
Greg
22. (18) Detroit Lions (2-4)
– Just when the fixed their special teams issues they discovered that they have
turnover issues. Notice I am using the word “issues” a lot? That’s not
something you want to here. – Andrew
23. (27) Tennessee Titans (3-4) – Can we start calling
Chris Johnson CJ2K again? And am I alone in thinking Hasselbeck should start
ahead of Locker even when Locker is healthy again? – Andrew
24.
(17) Buffalo Bills (3-4) – Inexplicably lost this week. Ryan Fitzpatrick made
some really dumb decisions that cost this team the game. Where is the defensive
improvement we all expected? – Greg
25.
(22) St. Louis Rams (3-4) – They stayed with the Packers for a while, then allowed them to
pull away, and then brought it close again at the end. A full 60 minutes would
do them wonders. – Andrew
26.
(23) Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) – Need a bit of desperation right now. They're in a free fall.
Luckily, the rest of the division isn't running away from them. – Greg
27. (24) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-4) – Played a good enough
game to win this week, but their pass defense, especially at corner and middle
linebacker need improvement. – Greg
28. (29) Oakland Raiders (2-4) – The good news is that
they got a win this week. The bad is that it was an OT win over a crappy team.
– Andrew
29.
(28) Cleveland Browns (1-6) – Same old, same old. They do some things well and some things not
so well. Bad outweighs the good in football. – Andrew
30. (30) Carolina Panthers (1-5) – Their win/loss record this year is a lot like Cam
Newton's press conference sweater.... Just Ugly! – Greg
31. (31) Kansas City Chiefs (1-5) – Big News this week:
Brady Quinn is now the Chiefs starting QB. They now, officially, will not win
another game this season. – Greg
32. (32) Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5) – Just when you thought things
couldn’t get worse, MJD gets injured. They will compete with the Chiefs all
year for the worst team in the league. – Andrew
