Last
week we saw a big battle in the Big Ten, which was won by Ohio State. This
week, the biggest games jump back to the SEC and Pac-12. The standings
tightened up even more too between us:
Picks
Standings
Greg: 19 – 11
Andrew: 19 – 11
Let’s
see what we think about these games:
2 Oregon at
16 Washington
Andrew:
Oregon – I said over and over last
year that Oregon was the best team in the country. I’m sort of getting that
feeling again every time I watch them play (although Alabama is agreeably
ranked #1). With that in mind, I say they continue to go nuts on offense and
get the job done once more, although it will be tighter than normal.
Greg:
Washington - For fun, I am picking
against Oregon. I have a very low confidence level in this pick, and since I
think Oregon will beat Stanford later in the year, I'm picking them to lose at
Washington, a tough place to play.
Andrew: Oregon 40, Washington 34
Greg: Washington 34, Oregon 32
25 Missouri
at 7 Georgia
Andrew:
Georgia – Missouri has been a great
story and has started well, but they aren’t truly ready to battle the top SEC
teams. Murray and company righted the ship recently and has started to show up
in big games. That means they do it here at home and get the job done.
Greg:
Georgia - This depends on the health
of a lot of Georgia's key players, but Todd Gurley is back this week, which
will give Georgia a huge boost. Bulldogs win in Athens.
Andrew: Georgia 35, Missouri 17
Greg:
Georgia 35, Missouri 24
17 Florida at
10 LSU
Andrew:
LSU – Florida is the undefeated team
in this matchup, well, in SEC play that is. But LSU has played better and lost
only a heartbreaker. Interestingly here, LSU is the powerhouse offense in this
matchup, but Florida has a stiff defense. I’ll side with Mettenberger and
company, because they are playing great.
Greg:
LSU – Florida’s defense is for real.
However, so is LSU’s offense. LSU will not lose at home, and the Tigers beat
the Gators.
Andrew: LSU 28, Florida 17
Greg: LSU 30, Florida 21
12 Oklahoma
at Texas
Andrew:
Oklahoma – This is a rivalry game,
so I’m tempted to go with Texas, especially since their coach is on the hot
seat. But Oklahoma is simply too good for them, with a much better defense.
Last year this game was a blowout, but I’m guessing it’s close this time
around.
Greg:
Oklahoma - Mack Brown will be fired
after this game as I believe that Oklahoma will run away with a landslide
victory here. Oklahoma is a very similar team to BYU who absolutely blew the
Longhorns off the field in the second week of the season.
Andrew: Oklahoma 31, Texas 27
Greg: Oklahoma 45, Texas 17
19
Northwestern at Wisconsin
Andrew:
Wisconsin – Both have to get over their
respective close losses to Ohio State and focus in here. This is a big game for
both sides. Both teams can score the football, so I think it comes down to
getting stops. Wisconsin’s defense allows about 12.5 points less per game than
Northwestern. That means they’ll get the late stop that matters.
Greg:
Wisconsin - Wildcats nearly pulled
off the upset last weekend over Ohio State and Wisconsin nearly beat Ohio State
in Columbus. Toss up, but I think Northwestern loses two Big Ten games in a row
against the only teams in the conference that are better than them.
Andrew: Wisconsin
40, Northwestern 35
Greg: Wisconsin
28, Northwestern 24
