NFL Power Rankings
After Week 4
NOTE: Previous ranking is noted in the first parenthesis.
Current team record noted in the second parenthesis.
1. (1) Denver Broncos (4-0) – Manning has a 4-game record 16
TD’s, WITH 0 INTERCEPTIONS. Any questions?
2. (2) Seattle Seahawks (4-0) – Let’s be honest, they should
have lost this past weekend. But the defense made a play and Wilson made some
big runs in the second half.
3. (3) New England Patriots (4-0) – Winning at Atlanta,
still without many of their weapons, was very impressive. Losing Vince Wilfork
sours it some though.
4. (5) New Orleans Saints (4-0) – Nearly put them higher
after watching the offensive display on MNF because it was scary good. Can you
imagine a Denver vs. New Orleans matchup? Gives me chills.
5. (6) Kansas City Chiefs (4-0) – Their defense continues to
dominate teams, and the offense finally seems to be coming around. Still want
more from Jamaal Charles though.
6. (11) Indianapolis Colts (3-1) – Continue to improve in
all phases, although it’s easy to do that against Jacksonville.
7. (16) Detroit Lions (3-1) – Huge climb in the rankings due
to their dominant performance against Chicago. Reggie Bush returned and
transformed their offense. The defense is becoming a beast up front also.
8. (14) San Francisco 49ers (2-2) – Kaepernick got back to
playing his game this week, and the defense has always been there. Let’s see if
they can build on momentum.
9. (9) Green Bay Packers (1-2) – Watching their rivals lose
(Chicago) this weekend had to make them smile during their bye week.
10. (4) Chicago Bears (3-1) – Want to drop them further
after a classic letdown game against Detroit. But I should have tampered my
expectations since Jay Cutler is still prone to big turnover games.
11. (8) Miami Dolphins (3-1) – Similar to Chicago, turnovers
killed the Dolphins along with a poor defensive effort. It’s still been a solid
start to the year however and they have proven to be a playoff threat
nonetheless.
12. (18) Tennessee Titans (3-1) – Figured I’d give them a
good ranking this week because they will be falling soon. Jake Locker is likely
out 1-2 months after an injury Sunday. Ouch!
13. (19) San Diego Chargers (2-2) – This is a team that has
played pretty well all year despite an average record. Philip Rivers seems to
be back to his great playing status.
14. (7) Cincinnati Bengals (2-2) – Just when we fell in love
with them after defeating Green Bay, they put up six points against lowly
Cleveland. C’mon Man!
15. (10) Dallas Cowboys (2-2) – Losing a tight game at SD
was tough, but nobody is winning much in the division. A huge home game against
Denver now looms.
16. (12) Baltimore Ravens (2-2) – Similar to Cincy, starting
to like them more and more and then, BOOM, bad loss.
17. (17) Carolina Panthers (1-2) – Improved place in
standings, despite a bye, thanks to Atlanta’s loss.
18. (13) Houston Texans (2-2) – Oh Houston and Matt Schaub,
when will you learn to play in the clutch? Suddenly, they are third in the
division.
19. (15) Atlanta Falcons (1-3) – See Houston Texans, but
Matt Ryan instead of Schaub.
20. (21) Arizona Cardinals (2-2) – Survived a tight game
against Tampa Bay due to a late surge. Need to play with that urgency
throughout entire games though.
21. (22) Buffalo Bills (2-2) – Great win over the defending
champs. Robert Woods is becoming a great young WR.
22. (25) Cleveland Browns (2-2) – 2-0 since trading
Richardson. Brian Hoyer is undefeated as a starter. Defense is coming together
(allowed 6 points against Bengals). Now tied for the division lead.
23. (27) Minnesota Vikings (1-3) – Playing in London helping
Minny get their first win, although it was AD that stole the show.
24.
(20) New York Jets (2-2) – Geno Smith showed that he is still indeed a rookie.
He looked awful and committed the “Butt Fumble 2.0” in the loss Sunday.
25.
(30) Washington Redskins (1-3) – RGIII and company finally got a W. After their
horrendous start to the year, they are only one game out of the division lead.
26.
(23) Philadelphia Eagles (1-3) – Wow the defense is horrendous. Granted it was
against Peyton Manning, but they did nothing.
27.
(24) St. Louis Rams (1-3) – After a promising start to the year, looks like St.
Louis is headed for another long and unsuccessful season.
28.
(26) Oakland Raiders (1-3) – Probably would have won that game Sunday had Pryor
been out there instead of Flynn.
29.
(28) Pittsburgh Steelers (0-4) – First time in 45 years or something that they
have been 0-4. At least Antonio Brown is emerging as a star.
30.
(29) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-4) – A late interception cost them the game. No
matter whom they start at QB, they still need more Doug Martin.
31.
(31) New York Giants (0-4) – Finally they were competitive, but it’s still a
loss. At least the rest of the NFC East sucks too.
32. (32) Jacksonville Jaguars (0-4) – 0-16
is a legit possibility I think. You think Alabama would be close to them?
