NFL Power Rankings
After Week 6
NOTE: Previous ranking is noted in the first parenthesis.
Current team record noted in the second parenthesis.
1. (1) Denver Broncos (6-0) – They didn’t cover the
record-breaking Las Vegas spread, but they managed to win by a couple
touchdowns. It was Moreno though that got the most TD’s this time, not Manning.
2. (3) Kansas City Chiefs (6-0) – While Denver has the best
offense in football, KC is unbeaten because they have the best defense. They
scored another defensive touchdown this weekend, and Jamaal Charles is becoming
a menace again.
3. (5) Seattle Seahawks (5-1) – Outside of a botched FG
which led to a Tennessee TD, this team was golden as Seattle dominated with
their defense and running game once again Sunday.
4. (6) San Francisco 49ers (4-2) – Vernon Davis appears to
be back healthy again as he exploded with 180 yards and 2 touchdowns. They have
another easy game this weekend, which will continue their hot play.
5. (7) New England Patriots (5-1) – Huge win on Sunday
against the Saints, particularly because they still don’t have all of their
weapons. Brady is gaining chemistry with his rookie receivers however, and
Gronk is set to return probably this week.
6. (2) New Orleans Saints (5-1) – It was a tough loss at New
England as it looked as if they were going to hold on, but it could be an even
bigger loss if Jimmy Graham misses time due to his ankle injury he sustained.
7. (8) Green Bay Packers (3-2) – Green Bay won this game
with solid defense and a great running attack. Yes, you saw that correctly.
Banged up receivers are making things tougher though.
8. (9) Cincinnati Bengals (4-2) – They needed OT against the
Bills, but a win is a win right? They are alone in first place again in the
division though, so it was a great weekend.
9. (10) Detroit Lions (4-2) – Stafford went wild on Sunday
thanks to Fauria, his new favorite toy in the redzone.
10. (4) Indianapolis Colts (4-2) – Every time I start to
fall in love with the Colts, they lay an egg. They had no offense last night,
and their defense struggled stopping the run over and over again.
11. (12) Chicago Bears (4-2) – Their game against the Giants
shouldn’t have been that close, but they made plays when they needed too and
have a long week to get healthy. Of course that won’t help DJ Williams, who
will miss the rest of the season similar to other guys on the defense they
already lost.
12. (13) Dallas Cowboys (3-3) – After a massive performance
last week, Romo was content mostly handing the ball off and letting the
defense/special teams win the game this week. They could be in store for
another shootout though this week against Philly.
13. (19) San Diego Chargers (3-3) – The Chargers defense was
incredible last night and I loved how committed they were to the run game.
Woodhead and Mathews were both clicking last night.
14. (11) Baltimore Ravens (3-3) – It was a tough loss Sunday
as they came up 2 points short, but it’s encouraging that their defense hung
tough for the most part.
15. (15) Miami Dolphins (3-2) – Let’s see if they can get
back to their winning ways after they bye.
16. (20) Philadelphia Eagles (3-3) – Do we have a QB
controversy on our hands now that Foles went off? I think we might…
17. (22) Carolina Panthers (2-3) – Finally Cam Newton broke
out. Will that continue or was it just a fluke?
18. (25) St. Louis Rams (3-3) – I didn’t bump them much last
week after they won, but this week they blitzed the Texans, and that was
impressive. Zac Stacy has been running very well since being named the new starter.
19. (14) Arizona Cardinals (3-3) – They had the 49ers number
last year, but they couldn’t slow them down enough to win this time around.
Carson Palmer is officially on the decline.
20. (16)
New York Jets (3-3) – Total dud offensively after playing so well the week
before in Atlanta. Guess that’s the inconsistency that takes place with a
rookie QB.
21. (17) Tennessee Titans (3-3) – It was just another ho-hum
performance in the loss. Nothing to get jazzed about or complain about.
22. (18) Cleveland Browns (3-3) – Josh Gordon continues to
impress and be in the media trade rumors. My guess is that one of those stop
soon…
23. (21) Atlanta Falcons (1-4) – I’m bumping them down even
though they were on bye. Why? They lost Julio Jones for the year and Roddy
could be out for a bit too.
24. (29) Pittsburgh Steelers (1-4) – They are finally in the
winning column and actually looked good in the process.
25. (23) Houston Texans (2-4) – Schaub got injured, the
crowd cheered, then, Yates come in and threw two INT’s including a pick-6. Can’t
get much worse in Houston.
26. (24) Minnesota Vikings (1-4) – Who, oh who, will start
at quarterback? Who, oh who will it be?
27. (26) Oakland Raiders (2-4) – Terrible effort vs. KC.
They did defend the pass well though.
28. (27) Buffalo Bills (2-4) – Lewis did okay in his first
start and led them into OT. Wouldn’t be surprised if he got a few wins if he
continues to start.
29.
(28) Washington Redskins (1-4) – Good news: They weren’t absolutely terrible.
Bad news: They lost by 15 nonetheless.
30.
(30) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-5) – Vincent Jackson was great in the loss, but
that only helps in fantasy.
31.
(31) New York Giants (0-6) – They fought hard against the Bears, but Eli’s multiple
interceptions killed any real chance they had.
32. (32) Jacksonville Jaguars (0-6) – Blackmon
had another great game, but they had another double-digit loss.
