NFL Power Rankings
After Week 11
NOTE: Previous ranking is noted in the first parenthesis.
Current team record noted in the second parenthesis.
1. (1) Denver Broncos (9-1) – No doubt who the top NFL team
is now, after they dismantled the Chiefs on Sunday night. That was with injuries
to Welker and J. Thomas (hope they are okay). If Welker is okay, he takes on
his former team next.
2. (3) Seattle Seahawks (10-1) – Finally passed the Chiefs
in these rankings and are #2. Will very soon clinch a playoff birth. Oh, and
Percy Harvin is back, which will only serve to make them better.
3. (4) New Orleans Saints (8-2) – After ten games, I think
it’s time to admit the defense is for real. And with Drew Brees still running
the show on offense, this is a real Super Bowl threat.
4. (2) Kansas City Chiefs (9-1) – Powerful defense couldn’t
stop Peyton Manning, but they’ll get another shot soon (two weeks).
5. (7) Carolina Panthers (7-3) – The NFL’s hottest team
continued to win last night. They are led by a terrific defense but Cam Newton
showed us yesterday why he’s the heart and sole of the team.
6. (5) New England Patriots (7-3) – Nearly won it at the
last second, but a no-call closed their comeback chance. Thought they tightened
up their running back position last season, but this year there isn’t a great
threat.
7. (10) Cincinnati Bengals (7-4) – Back on track with
another great offensive and defensive game. AJ Green was finally shut down, but
Dalton found his other receivers plenty.
8. (9) Indianapolis Colts (7-3) – It was another shaky performance
by the Colts, but they found a way to win again. They are masters winning close
games apparently, which is killing their fans on a weekly basis.
9. (8) San Francisco 49ers (6-4) – Nearly pulled off the
upset at the Superdome, but fell on a late field goal. Still missing playmakers
on offense, but they’ll find a way to scrape into the playoffs regardless.
10. (12) Philadelphia Eagles (6-5) – With Dallas idle on
Sunday, Philly moved into first place in the NFC East. Foles continues to shine
and McCoy went over 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
11. (11) Dallas Cowboys (5-5) – Rest was good for America’s
team this week, but they lost their grasp on first place. Better start playing
to their potential.
12. (6) Detroit Lions (6-4) – The Lions showed us all again
why we couldn’t trust them as a frontrunner in the NFC North. Stafford
disappeared in the fourth quarter.
13. (13) Chicago Bears (6-4) – Suddenly, they are once again
tied for the division lead. McCown needs to be given a ton of credit if the
Bears keep winning. The defensive line is getting better finally too.
14. (16) Arizona Cardinals (6-4) – Quietly, the Cardinals
are now two games over .500 for the year. Palmer and the offense erupted this
weekend, which I’ve been waiting for. Guess playing the Jags does help.
15. (15) Miami Dolphins (5-5) – After slumping for some
time, the Dolphins seem to be righting the ship a bit. And did you see the hit
Charles Clay delivered en route to his TD? Awesome!
16. (14) Green Bay Packers (5-5) – Another loss with
Rodgers. Only one back in the division, they can still make the playoffs… But
that’s only if Rodgers gets healthy fast.
17. (20) New York Giants (4-6) – I’m still putting this team
below the Packers, who they just beat on Sunday. Reason is that Green Bay is
missing their superstar, NYG is as healthy as they’ve been all year. Four wins
in a row now though.
18. (15) New York Jets (5-5) – Should have seen this dud
coming… they can’t win twice in a row. The trend continued.
19. (17) Baltimore Ravens (4-6) – Running game looked good
for the first time in a while. Flacco still looks extremely undeserving of his
contract though.
20. (18) San Diego Chargers (4-6) – With this week’s loss,
their slim playoff hopes died. Schedule is too tough for them to overcome some
of these bad losses.
21. (21) Cleveland Browns (4-6) – After holding a 13-0 lead,
I though Cleveland could pull of the upset. Then the second quarter happened,
when Cincy scored 31 unanswered points. Ouch.
22. (22) St. Louis Rams (4-6) – Can they continue their
great play after the bye? Hope not, because they face my Bears.
23. (25) Oakland Raiders (4-6) – McGloin energized the
Raiders on Sunday and has earned another start this week. I prefer Pryor still,
but things looked good with him this weekend.
24. (26) Pittsburgh Steelers (4-6) – Big Ben owned the Lions
on Sunday showing that he still has some great play left in him. Not going to
matter this year, but maybe next season.
25. (27) Buffalo Bills (4-7) – Maneul played a solid game
this weekend, and that was without his top two receivers. That’s why Buffalo
went with him early in the draft.
26. (24) Tennessee Titans (4-6) – Tennessee should have won
Thursday night against the Colts. A weird and stunning third quarter completely
changed things.
27. (23) Washington Redskins (3-7) – Washington is 2-2 at
home. They are 1-5 on the road. That’s why the playoffs are out of reach this
year compared to last.
28. (31) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-8) – Glennon actually is
getting better and better (20-23 this weekend) and they have now won two
straight.
29. (28) Minnesota Vikings (2-8) – Interesting that they
faced Percy Harvin when he made his debut.
30. (29) Atlanta Falcons (2-8) – Roddy is back and he caught
a TD. That’s really the only bright spot.
31. (30) Houston Texans (2-8) – Now eight straight losses.
Remember how good they were last season?
32. (32) Jacksonville Jaguars (1-9) – With
Tampa Bay’s win, Jacksonville is once again alone in last place wins-wise.
