Power Rankings 13

NFL Power Rankings
After Week 13

NOTE: Previous ranking is noted in the first parenthesis. Current team record noted in the second parenthesis.

1. (1) Seattle Seahawks (11-1) – After last night’s performance, it is obvious how good Seattle is. Holding the Saints to 7 points is bananas, and putting up 34 behind Russell Wilson is just as impressive.

2. (2) Denver Broncos (10-2) – The Broncos took full control of the AFC West by completing the sweep of the Kansas City Chiefs. Eric Decker was the key target, as he caught four touchdowns in that game.

3. (4) Carolina Panthers (9-3) – The Panthers are officially on fire! That’s eight in a row, and this time it was in convincing fashion. They are all but a lock to make the playoffs at least as a wildcard, and they still have a shot at the division too.

4. (3) New Orleans Saints (9-3) – It was a rough game last night for the Saints, who couldn’t do much on either side of the ball. The Saints are still a great team, but simply got outplayed by the best team in football, at a place where nobody can seem to win.

5. (5) New England Patriots (9-3) – It’s now an expectation that the Pats must fall behind in the first half, and come back in the second. Once again, they proved clutch.

6. (7) Cincinnati Bengals (8-4) – The Bengals took a big step towards the division title by fending off those pesky Chargers. They retained a two game lead on the Ravens.

7. (8) San Francisco 49ers (8-4) – The 49ers looked dominant against the Rams, a team they struggled with twice last year. They likely won’t catch the Seahawks, but they’ll be a solid wildcard team.

8. (6) Kansas City Chiefs (9-3) – They have lost three games in a row, but two were to the Broncos, which can be expected. The key for them will be righting the ship over the last month.

9. (9) Dallas Cowboys (7-5) – Thanksgiving was good once again for the Cowboys, who got a clutch drive late to win it on a FG. Romo has struggled in December, so let’s see what he can do now.

10. (10) Philadelphia Eagles (7-5) – Philly then kept pace with the Cowboys winning a tight game against the Cardinals. Foles continues to shine in Chip Kelly’s offense.

11. (12) Indianapolis Colts (8-4) – The Colts got back to their winning ways by taking out the Titans. The offense didn’t light it up in terms of TD’s, but that’s why you have a good FG kicker.

12. (11) Arizona Cardinals (7-5) – They nearly won at Philadelphia, but came up a FG short. They need a strong finish to overtake the 49ers for that last wildcard spot.

13. (13) Detroit Lions (7-5) – It was a dominating win over Green Bay on Thanksgiving, fueled by a terrific defensive effort up front. And with the Bears losing, the division is now closer than ever.

14. (17) Baltimore Ravens (6-6) – In the tight AFC wildcard race, the Ravens did what they needed to do against their archrivals on Thanksgiving. Dennis Pitta is also close to returning, which could really help Flacco and the offense out.

15. (18) Miami Dolphins (6-6) – Miami also got it back to .500 and hurt the Jets’ chances in the process. Tannehill played great football throwing for 331 yards.

16. (14) Chicago Bears (6-6) – Don’t know how the Bears could lose that game against Minnesota. My take: they held a ten point lead in the second half and got complacent. Then in OT, Gould missed a FG after Trestman elected for a 47-yard attempt on second down! They’ve all but blown their playoff chances over the last couple weeks.

17. (15) Green Bay Packers (5-6-1) – The bad news is that they looked awful this week. The good news is that Aaron Rodgers may be getting close to returning, which could spark a late run.

18. (16) San Diego Chargers (5-7) – San Diego couldn’t sustain anything really against the Bengals. The offense has been solid all year, but a ten-point effort won’t get it done.

19. (22) New York Giants (5-7) – The Giants continue to play strong after their disastrous start. They were aided by the officials late against Washington, but great play put them in position to win anyways.

20. (19) St. Louis Rams (5-7) – The 49ers were just too much for them and their backup QB. It’s probably a good thing though as losing can get them a better draft choice.

21. (20) Pittsburgh Steelers (5-7) – Their rivals beat them in a close one, and that really hurt their wildcard chances. It’s not quite over though since they play in the AFC.

22. (21) Tennessee Titans (5-7) – Similar to Pittsburgh, a division rival took them out and hurt their playoff chances.

23. (23) New York Jets (5-7) – The funny thing about the Jets season is that I would say a 5-7 record is phenomenal right now based on what I expected. Jets fan would likely disagree.

24. (24) Cleveland Browns (4-7) – Hello Josh Gordon. Back to back 200+ receiving games is just crazy. Crazy! But they lost on a late TD…

25. (30) Jacksonville Jaguars (3-9) – There is no way I should be putting Jacksonville this high, but they have won 3 games in the last month.

26. (25) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-9) – The Bucs ran into a hot Panthers team, but they have been playing well recently, so they need to build on that.

27. (26) Oakland Raiders (4-8) – Oakland was so close to taking out the Cowboys on a big stage. Instead, they stay at a pitiful four wins.

28. (27) Buffalo Bills (4-8) – Fumble issues ruined their chances against Atlanta. If those don’t happen, they likely move to 5-7 and somewhat in the wildcard hunt.

29. (29) Minnesota Vikings (3-8-1) – Minnesota should have lost the game, won the game, then lost the game again, before finally winning it. Confusing? So was the end of that game!

30. (31) Atlanta Falcons (3-9) – A win again, finally! Steven Jackson had two TD’s in this one, great for my fantasy team.

31. (29) Washington Redskins (3-9) – Screwed at the end of the Sunday night game? Maybe. But they are suddenly in the running for the top pick in the draft!

32. (32) Houston Texans (2-9) – Houston went from being one of the top teams in the league, to the worst… in one year…Things can change quickly in the NFL.
