College Football Saturday

College Football Picks

Greg:               32 – 18
Andrew:          29 – 21

Last week was upset city. The big ones were that #1 and #2 went down (Kansas State to Baylor and Oregon to Stanford). That cleared the way for Notre Dame to take over, and allowed one loss Alabama back into the picture. This week is huge for so many teams and will set the stage for the postseason. Expect some crazy things (TCU already upset Texas) to happen too… Here are our picks and previews:

1 Notre Dame at USC

We all know the storyline. Notre Dame is trying to make the National Championship and must win this game to do so. USC has underachieved this season and Matt Barkley is injured and therefore won’t start. Can there still be a slip up? There won’t be. The defense won’t let them. I see the Irish offense struggling early before pulling away in the second half. – Andrew

Andrew:         Notre Dame 24, USC 14
Greg:

4 Florida at 10 Florida State

This is a huge game for Florida. They suddenly find themselves in the National Title hunt. A couple things have to go their way but it’s very possible. This rivalry game is their first step. The problem here is that they go on the road to play a talented team who will be ready to play. Plus, Florida is playing with a banged up QB. I don’t like their chances. – Andrew

Andrew:         Florida State 27, Florida 24
Greg:

5 Oregon at 15 Oregon State

Heading into last week I fully believed that Oregon was the best team in the nation and would win a National Title. Then they lost (choked at the end) and they are nearly out of the hunt for the title. A blowout win on the road can help persuade voters and the computer. And I think that will happen. The offense won’t be bottled up like last week and you will see why they are dangerous. – Andrew

– Greg

Andrew:         Oregon 40, Oregon State 21
Greg:

8 Stanford at 17 UCLA

Stanford has had a stellar season that became better last week after beating Oregon. UCLA has been even more impressive and surprising, and that was also highlighted by a big win a week ago (USC). UCLA is a little more dangerous offensively, but Stanford controls the tempo well and has a terrific defense. I also like their experience and ability to pull out close games. I say they win on the last play. – Andrew

– Greg

Andrew:         Stanford 28, UCLA 27
Greg:

12 South Carolina at 11 Clemson

This is a rivalry that has been growing throughout the year. Both coaches have been throwing jabs at the other all year. They don’t like each other, and I don’t think they respect each other. I feel South Carolina is the better team but I’m feeling Clemson here. I say Boyd goes off… – Andrew

– Greg

Andrew:         Clemson 38, South Carolina 24
Greg:

21 Oklahoma State at 13 Oklahoma

The thing about the last week of the season is that it is full of rivalries. This won is another one to watch. Neither team has really showed up in big games this season, but I still trust Oklahoma a little bit more. It will be high scoring though so if you like defense, don’t watch! – Andrew

– Greg

Andrew:         Oklahoma 45, Oklahoma State 31
Greg:

19 Michigan at Ohio State

One of the best rivalries in college football and this game will be fun. Ohio State is one of the two unbeaten teams in the nation and they are looking to make a statement. Michigan is playing well of late, and they want this bad. Someone will walk away upset. I love Urban Meyer in big games, and they truly are a good team. Braxton Miller will be the best player on the field and the Buckeyes will finish unblemished. Too bad they can’t play in the postseason. – Andrew

– Greg

Andrew:         Ohio State 27, Michigan 24
Greg:

Wisconsin at Penn State

This is a very good under the radar game. Just like Ohio State, the Nittany Lions are also banned from moving on. But they can feel good about their play this season, as they have overachieved in my opinion. As a team though, I like Wisconsin better. But guess what, I know Greg (who hates Penn State) will pick the Badgers, so I’ll go against him. – Andrew
