Last
year we started a yearly competition for NFL picking that was a little
different than normal. Each week, Greg and I would pick every game in the NFL,
but along with the pick we ranked them according to how confident we were. The
more confident we were in the pick, the more points we gave it. So the game we
were most confident in got 16 points (if there were 16 games), and the least
confident pick got 1 point. At the end of the year, Andrew came out on top. This
year, we start fresh:
Andrew – 0 Points (0-0)
Greg – 0 Points (0-0)
Tonight the NFL season gets underway. It all begins with an
AFC playoff rematch featuring the defending champs (Ravens) taking on Peyton’s
Broncos. The excitement continues Sunday with big time showdowns including
Cincinnati at Chicago, Atlanta at New Orleans, the Packers at the 49ers, and
the Giants at Dallas. “Revis Island” returns to New York as well. Play
concludes Monday with a doubleheader which includes Chip Kelly’s Eagles taking
on RG3’s ‘Skins. It should make for some great games!
Below are our picks and confidence points for all the games.

As you can see, we agreed on a number of games, but not on
some. The biggest point swing will be Cleveland vs. Miami, as we disagreed on
the pick and put up 11 and 4 points respectively. That’s a 15-point swing total
one-way or the other. We also picked Atlanta/New Orleans, Arizona/St. Louis,
and San Francisco/Green Bay differently, but for fewer points. Should be
interesting…
Enjoy week 1!
